Do you have an ice pack or something equivalent? Wrap it in a towel or something like that, and hold it on your sore arm.

<-----gentle ones for you...

i'll grab the "ice pack" (a plastic bag of rye flour that has been sitting in the freezer for ages) when i head to bed.

but on the good side, i got the all-clear on the ankle today. it's a bit stiff, but i'm pretty much back up and running.

how's the shoulder?

Me and my troublesome shoulder are hanging in there, waiting for Friday! I'll see my doc then, and THEN he will tell me if I can lose this god damned sling/immobilizer!

It is really getting hard dealing with it. I can't drive or cook or put my hair up!

I do take the sling off for showers (doc said OK!) and then I use my arm. Cautiously but I do use it. It seems to be working the way it's supposed to without any slipping in the joint.

I'm very hopeful.

Sorry to carry on so much! And thanks for reading, if you got this far. I guess I needed to vent.

I once had to wear a brace for 3 months while a broken clavicle healed. It was an innertubing accident in the Sandias of NM in Winter, and after a long, bumpy, painful drive down the mountain a doctor at the AFB clinic set it.

And by 'set it,' I mean he put his knee in my back and his hands on my shoulders and yanked for dear life (the wonders of modern medicine!). I nearly passed out, so as a reward for hanging in there, I guess, he gave me a brace. I followed his instructions religiously and wore the brace most of the time for the whole 3 months, just like he said.

At the end of that time I got my second reward--we discovered that the clavicle healed with the bone ends overlapping, so I got to have one shoulder shorter than the other, lol. Damn, I'm good!

So I can tell you in all sincerity that I'm sure your story is going to have a much better ending than mine.

That is just horrifying! Three months???

I would have died under those circumstances.

And you can laugh! That is a testament to your humanity.

Thank you...

I do recall, after a serious 'degloving' accident on my foot, the most painful part was the tetanus shot, in my butt! Felt like they were injecting 1 quart of something!

No Nutella here.

Once I hate Nutella and tortilla chips (I love salty and sweet). I wanted it that badly and there was no bread it the house. A spoon just seemed…bad (though I've done that a million times).
Sigh.
