1. VMA vs Emmys - I'm in parallel universes

Awards shows are magnets to me, even (or especially?) that I've never seen 90% of the nominees in any venue. From VMA last night to Emmys tonight, it's like each is a mad scientist's repertoire of different and separate weirdness.

I've stuck with SNL from the beginning, with gaps of years, during and after its multiply being declared dead, but late night talk shows and this Emmys have been swallowed up, gentrified, by SNL people and they don't travel that well for me.

Gawsh, Kathy BATES and Jessica LANGE won, and they both seemed so surprised and they seemed so on another level. Too bad that when it was hyped that BACALL was finally going to win an Oscar, she seemed to really really want it and didn't get it.
