(34,051 posts)couldn't find half of them
however, i did find a book called "the best dad is a good lover" which has gotten 4 & 5 star reviews, saying it was a good catholic book. hummm.....
harpo's horrible secret (1993) is in a hardcover without cover illustration and selling for a whopping $346!
"everything i want to do is illegal" is apparently based on a true story (2007) subtitle: war stories from the local food front
this one is very controversial:
don't make me go back mommy: a child's book about satanic ritual abuse
published 1990 (hardcover $115)
there is a review from the school library journal
"This is a very specialized title that, although in picture-book format, belongs in the child-abuse section of the adult collection. Five-year-old Allison's behavior indicates to her concerned parents that something is wrong at her day care center."
other reviews of the book include:
"pure insanity. I am a librarian and under no circumstances would I allow this title to be on the shelf. What a load of rubbish that will simply terrify children for no reason whatsoever. Are people deranged to actually promote this book? It is child abuse in my opinion"
"this is hate speech, pure and simple. As a lifelong practicing member of the First United Church of Satan, I find this book bigoted and offensive. So, taking pictures of 8 year old girls and boys wearing make up and feathered boas is abuse now?! Ever see Toddlers & Tiaras?! Ever hear of Glamour Shots?! Since when has poking a cat with a fiery stick or stepping on frogs been considered abuse?"
and this gem:
"all hail the dark lord. This book cleared up all those dreams I had and the vague childhood memories of going over to Old Scratch's house. Uncle Nick always was a beelzebub keeper and sold the honey under the twilight moon in summer. I'll never forget those autumn bonfires over at Old Hob's house. Oh the songs we used to sing! I don't know what ever happened to my cape. The funniest thing I ever remember was when my second cousin Belial had all those winged monkeys that used to fly around the fire when we'd say Aunt Lilith's magic words. Great times."
more interesting reviews for the above book.
& don't forget to check out
"the big book of lesbian horse stories" (2002)
one review states: "Not as arousing as the title would have you believe. Plus, it is no larger than a regular sized book of lesbian horse stories"
the book "who cares about the elderly" (1995)
review: "Not this guy. Even less now after reading this book. Screw them.... It's moments like these I pray I have a massive heart attack in my 50's, so I don't have to be elderly"
i was looking at some of the titles amazon lists as "customers who viewed this item also viewed" & found
"images you should not masturbate to" (2011) -- look inside! (spoiler alert: pickles & rubber gloves)
"reasons mommy drinks" (2013) has really good reviews. sounds like a fun book on various types of drinks with lots of mommy humor--look inside!
oh, there is so much more....a world of crazy books i never knew about. thanks for preoccupying my morning--i didn't want to clean & pick up around the house anyway!
