For the life of all that is near and dear to you do NOT update your iphone to IOS 8

This thing eats batteries like it's a kid on Halloween opening up the goody bag and there isn't a parent in site to stop them from gorging.

I went to bed last night and the battery on my iphone 5 was at 55%. Probably should have changed it but I didn't because by morning it would only be down to maybe 50% tops.

It was at 30%.

I couldn't have been texting in my sleep - the phone was in my purse in the other room DOWNSTAIRS. That would have been quite the feat.

I am so ticket that I wiped out all these applications (well ok not really they were apps I was hardly using so I'll survive) to put this nasty upgrade on my phone that so far I can't figure out what it does other than EAT MY BATTERY ALIVE.

On the 4s it stopped allowing wifi. On my IPad, everything is slower, and some functions that used to work stopped. They said they had a fix with 8.020, but it fixed nothing.

about being a procrastinator is that I'm usually months behind everyone else when they're doing upgrades and stuff.

Which means I don't end up having to deal with bugs and crashes and other software/upgrade drama.

Am avoiding IOS 8 like the plague that it is...

But I went through my settings and noticed that all my apps were set to update automatically - not how I had it set up. I reset it all back to update and refresh when I opened the apps instead and found my battery life has now improved. By the end if the day, I am still holding a 85% charge now instead of the 40% I was running into immediately after the update.

See if that helps. Hopefully it will add hours to your battery life.

But if I had to do it over again I would have stayed on IOS7

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I seriously love my Android phone, but I can never find an Android tablet that is as fast and as useful as the iPad.

Although, the iPad is two years old now and iOS 8 certainly has had an impact on its performance.

My LG G2 phone is still beast, though.

worked fine on my 4S and ipad. Battery did seem to drain faster, but my phone is old and I tend to charge it all the time. Probably developed a memory. I let it drain down to 20% and it improved.

Also turned off the app update and Bluetooth.
