My guess is at this time the probably will not bring in workers from infected countries unless they know they are of good health.

(20,176 posts)That's also the gold coast of Africa and its impediment to the gold trade doesn't seem to be motivating anybody to deal with the Ebola crisis faster. Gold, not only a precious metal, but also having major industrial uses is way more important to global economies than cocoa.

If I go down, they'll have to pry my homemade fudge out of my hands, dammit!

(95,337 posts)Most of the countries bordering the 3 countries with the outbreak have pretty much shutdown their borders next to those countries with major outbreaks (Guinea, Siera Leone, Liberia) I read where Nigeria isolated their few cases of Ebola to ensure no one else got infected to ensure that stopped in it's tracked right then and there. And to be fair Senegal only had to have 1 person infected to shut down it's border with Guinea so why they made that an orange country makes no sense. That one case was about a month ago so it probably shouldn't even be called out in the map.
So why would there be an issue with getting Cocoa from Côte dIvoire (which is hectically the name of Ivory Coast - again bad Journalism from Politico, which surprises me), Ghana or Nigeria makes no sense. It's kinda like those dumbass mouthpieces that says Ebola is going to get into our country because of the illegal immigrants crossing the border at Mexico. Just makes you scratch your head and wonder who sat around at a desk and thought up that crazy idea.
