Yesterday my head exploded again.

Instead of happening while I was lying down and falling asleep, I was awake (though tired from lack of sleep from getting up with poor blind Abby several times in the night to take her outside to pee) and walking around.

It’s a benign condition called EHS (Exploding Head Syndrome). I’ve had it all my life, but this time not only was I sort of awake, the explosion was so loud and the jolt so strong, it knocked me to the floor.

Guess I’d better buy one of these.

it's happened to me several times through the years, usually as i'm falling asleep--and then who the hell can fall asleep after that, right?

but it's also happened during the day when i'm up and about.

i had no idea it was an actual "condition"

how terrible that it was so bad it knocked you over. are you okay?

I always was. In fact, while I was lying there on the floor, I spied in its wrapper a Reese’s Miniature Peanut Butter Cup in pristine condition under the hutch in the kitchen, so I slithered over and ate it.

Almost jump out of bed and heart races for a bit. Mine are just a loud boom, sort of like a large book being thrown flat (no bounce) onto a hard floor. Sometimes a feeling of falling comes with it.

Now it has a name.
