If I have the WiFi on for my phone, but I'm not connected to WiFi due to being out of range, I sometimes have trouble sending texts or emails.

I hate text messaging. When I get a new phone, one of the first things I do is block SMS so that I cannot send or receive text-messages. Every once in a while, I'll need to receive one for something like 2-step verification so I'll reactivate it from the handset then forget to block it again until someone sends me a text message and I go "Hey, I don't want to receive these!"

So, maybe it's like that. If it makes any difference, it's not personal about anybody for me. I have a lot of ways to be contacted in writing so what I'm trying to do is funnel everybody to only a few. I also have this non-desire to be that accessible that someone can send me a message on a small computer in my pocket that I carry everywhere. I also don't answer my phone if I don't want to be bothered. People who know me are very used to sending emails and leaving phone messages at this point.

They theoretically know that you would be texting them. Did you try subsequently dropping them a call?

My brother's SMS were being returned at one point, it turned out that his account had been shut-off for non-payment right smack when he was out of state.

And people try to text me all the time.

"DIDN'T YOU GET MY TEXT?!?!?!?" they'll demand, as if the failure to communicate is on me.

The only time I've had issues with text messaging is during my kids soccer games and I figured out that I've only got like one bar at the field.

My sister's phone quit taking and sending picture messages and she is too (insert some insulting word here) to figure out what happened. I and others sent her some great photos for weeks before we/she figured out they weren't coming through.

And when it's not it's typically a signal issue (Sprint) and I just resend until successful. ALso could be a network overload.

I text more than I talk.
