(5,670 posts)Black shoes are usually fine, but this "blue suit...?" Is that really necessary?

(56,582 posts)A cool thing about living in India is that I can get bespoke suits for less than a pret suit goes for in the US.
This one is really good, and cost about $70.

I occasionally wear black shoes with a blue suit, and it looks pretty good. No one has ever said a word about it. (Not the least of which reasons is because in any random group in any given situation, I'm likely to be the best-dressed person in the room. What can I say? I like clothes.)
The fashion rules change less often for men than they do for women. But they do change every once in a while. Twenty years ago, if you were purchasing a double-breasted suit, the rule was to cuff the trousers, no exceptions. Nowadays, if one purchases a double-breasted suit, (and they're currently out-of-fashion anyway) the rule is no cuffs on the trousers.
As much as I love clothes, I have only one hard-and-fast rule: Never wear a belt AND suspenders at the same time!!!
