And we didn't have transport except for the hotel shuttle, which only had a limited range.

Man... that place was so bad, so good!!
I would get a cheap bologna sandwich (bologna fried on the grill of course!) topped with that awesome slaw and greasy fries and that homemade white bread that acted like a great big grease blotter....
Oh boy, I can almost taste it still.
Some stuff is just classic like that.
