When have you succesfully lobied a politician? I once worked at a place that saw quite

a few young glbt kids looking for places to live. This was in 1995. There was a debate at the municipal level where some politicians didn't want the city to support/allow the glbt parade. Someone asked me to call in and advocate. I called and left a certain message on a politician's phone. I said that I saw kids who had been hit by a two/by/four when they came out and were persecuted and abandoned and had their young lives destroyed all because of it. I said that I was a taxpayer and what I wanted were healthy adults who know who they are, pay taxes and build their communities. I said why would you not support one day a year where these kids, who are really just getting to know themselves, can see themselves reflected and know that it is right, that they will be alright. And then they can take that knowledge and build a life, even without family support. The politician changed he stance and the parade went ahead. The politician called me back and asked me to call him, but by then I was too shy.
