Watch this Dropcam video of a cat ready to confront two burglars breaking into a Palo Alto home. The cat flees and one of the burglars realizes there's a camera and grabs it. The cat, and a second one in the home, left after the burglary, but returned later.
Palo Alto Police said the burglary occurred shortly before 6 p.m. on Nov. 18, 2014, Here's what the police department said about the incident:
"The victim, a woman in her forties, had left for work earlier in the day. No one was at home at the time of the burglary. A review of the surveillance footage shows that the two suspects forced entry into the locked front door of the townhome with a crowbar, which the second suspect then tucks into a pants pocket.
"Both suspects were wearing gloves. The first suspect walked upstairs to burglarize the home, while the second suspect remained stationed by the front door. That second suspect noticed the video camera, and promptly ripped it out of the wall. At the time it was disabled, the camera had already uploaded the video real-time to a cloud server. In addition to the camera, the suspects stole a laptop computer and jewelry from the home.
