Terrible sleep night... strange dreams... not on any drugs or anything

I don't do drugs. Never have. But last night, I feel I could have used a sedative...

Yesterday around 10am, I suddenly had some CRAZY chills. Like the flu. I went to bed, about an hour and a half later that was over but I was dizzy and sort of weak/out of it. Went to the restroom and after that, I felt REALLY tired. So I slept for almost three hours. Woke up and felt about 80% back to normal. Took a shower, had a pretty terrible headache so I popped some ibuprofen.

Since I slept so much during the day, I couldn't get to proper sleep until 11pm. Because my head was pounding still, I could not find the right side to sleep on. Tossing and turning.

Then the dreams came...

I felt like someone beamed a message into my head that Judy Dench died in a car accident. Her driver accidentally spun off the road and into the water and the EMS could not get there fast enough. WHAT THE HELL?

Then I dreamed I was running reddit and was trying to delete posts about something, I can't remember what. But I kept tossing and turning. Every time I woke up, I felt like I had to go back to sleep to delete more posts. It was incessant and infuriating.

Now I am awake and my head hurts a little but my lower back is achy. And I am still tired from waking to toss and turn all GD night.

WTF?

My son had the same symptoms last week. Three days in bed, headache, dizzy, but no chills. Then another family member had it, but with a sore throat and cough.

Did you have a flu shot?

I dreamt that I was with my first sweetheart. We were both still young and looking forward to starting a family. As I kissed her feet I told her there was a strong chance our first child would be redheaded since we both have redheads in our families. I asked her what we would do then. She said it did not matter. Naturally she would have to learn to grow up being gorgeous but everything else was left to fate.

My first sweetheart and I never did marry each other. We both started separate families and are now past the point of having children.

It was a strange and bittersweet fantasy.

The biggest thing was my cat deciding he wanted a larger portion of the bed.... so me being a good hoomin I moved for him lol

i had the flu-flu a couple weeks back

and now that someone sneezed IN MY FACE i'm feeling headache-y, can't breathe good, & my legs/thighs are starting to ache.

ugh.

on edit; my god! just that quick. i'm fucking shivering and my teeth are chattering!!! i'm drinking generic "effervescent cold relief" from cvs. jeeze!!!

i'm gonna try & stay here on the computer for awhile longer but all i can think of is getting on the couch and piling the blankets on me with a dvd of a happy movie or big bang theory.

another edit: i guess this was the reason i was going to stay on the computer (i just didn't know it) -- i clicked on a link someone on du had given me and found a something that i was supposed to find tonight. (very cosmic. here's what i posted back to them:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1220&pid=17183 )

hope we both feel better soon!

Gee whiz, I guess it really is the season. The chattering teeth do not lie. That is such a bummer!

I hope you do put on your favorite DVD, get under those blankets and let that CVS cold relief do what it does best - carry you off to a deep healing sleep (hopefully without wild dreams).

Hope you feel better fast!

It must have looked like an epileptic fit. I could not control it! I think "stop it, it's not cold" and rest for about two seconds, then the teeth and jaw would start, then the arms, then the legs would start to kick.

Fuuuuuhhh...

After an hour, I was ok, still a bit chilled.

The bad part was I was under the electric blanket on HIGH, so whatever that did to the old brain I was dizzy when I got up for about 30 minutes.

I could not sleep well at all on Saturday night, but I napped a fair amount yesterday. Last night I made it until 4am before I woke with dry mouth from the furnace (not cranked too high). I did have the chills, but I think it was because my wife had the windows cracked and the howling winter wind was blowing in (sometimes we like that, you know -- cold bedroom, warm bed).

And the headache... goodness! It's not too bad this morning. I feel like I might be over the hump.

It sure does sound like a flu of some stripe. A couple of times in my adult life I've gotten chills and fever without ever knowing why. As if my body managed to beat back the infection before other symptoms had a chance to appear. Just a mysterious, random fever - it happens. I always get the supercharged insane dreams also whenever I have a fever too.

Be sure and take it easy awhile so you can fully recover. Hope you continue to feel fine and have nothing but Judy Dench-free dreams

You can get the flu even if you had the shot. Just imagine how bad it could have been without a flu shot.

With a shot.

I know there are different strains of the flu and the shot only covers what is predicted to be the major ones for each year, but I did not know that even after getting the shot one could still get partial flu symptoms.

Crazy!

It was not nearly as bad as your symptoms but we had "something". Mine involved a headache, a mild sort of weird headache like I have never before encountered.

If you didn't have a fever, it could be an unconscious reaction as your body fights the bug.
