It's really hard to get Heroin™ nowadays, too, but that stuff could really snuff a cough

In several countries outside the US, one can still get low dose codeine-containing cough syrup. That actually does help.

If you are familiar with this plant, it can be infused to create a wild herb cough medicine. I can't remember if it is an expectorant or suppressant. The plant contains tussin, which remains a major cough syrup ingredient. You can google a recipe and method to make it. When I made it, I mixed some honey in with it.

We used to live on 9 1/2 acres in Monroe County, S.E. Ohio. I got interested in wild food plants and herbs. I'd get a book from the library, read about useful plants, go outside and bam, there they were, such a huge variety of useful wild plants. We moved away over 25 years ago, but I kept reading on wild plants. I almost suspect that someone transplanted a lot of those wild plants so they were near the house. I had a lot of fun experimenting with the plants and recipes. Coffee from dandelion root, lemonade from sour grass, the cough syrup, things like that.

my wife had a chronic cough for like 4 weeks following a cold. Finally convinced her to go see her doc and he gave her all of 35ml of a guaifenesin and codeine phosphate syrup. That's one teaspoon a day for 7 days.

I went to Canada a week later and came back with 250ml of the same codeine stuff over the counter along with the most effective and nastiest cough syrups I've ever used.

Their motto is: It tastes awful and it works.

he was hoping to get his paperwork straightened out Friday morning when the vet opened again. He said he'd update me. He never did contact me or the breeder.

I wrote to the breeder Friday night and heard back yesterday afternoon. He strung her along too, and she hadn't heard anything either. So she's waiting on her husband's work schedule to plan a day to bring her here themselves. It's 14 hours round trip, so hard for them but not impossible. And with just one horse they'll barely be getting gas money.

In the meantime, I googled again, with different word combo, and came up with Canter NE's page that lists truckers they use. One they recommended is based just 2 hours due east of the Breeder, also near Fingerlakes track, so I'm going to call this afternoon to see if he's still in biz and available. So many of the smaller people have been driven out...
