RIP Stan Freberg

A gifted comic has died. Old farts like me will remember him.

For the youngsters, let me explain that a phonograph used a needle to play a record. If the needle was dull, it would damage the record.

Also: "Dragnet" was a TV police procedural in the 1950s. Its reruns were called "Badge 714". In the movie "LA Confidential", it became "Badge of Honor".

Among his voice acting work is this timeless classic Bugs Bunny cartoon. Stan voiced the cretinous Pete Puma.

The world is better for his life, and a little worse for his recent demise. But the work will linger on. I think in many ways, Spike Jones and his City Slickers provided the fertile ground for Stan Freberg, Stan Freberg's work provided the conditions for so many that followed, such as Cheech and Chong, Weird Al Yankovic and Garrison Keillor.

when I was supposed to be sleeping, I could pickup a Seattle radio station that played the comedy albums of the time. I remember Stan Freberg very well. RIP Mr. Freberg.
