(14,400 posts)but one of my favorites has to be "Irresponsible Hate Anthem" by Marilyn Manson.
Any song that has "I wasn't born with enough middle fingers" in the chorus can't be all bad. Add to that the fact that a Marilyn Manson concert was pretty much the first date for my wife and I.
Some definitely NSFW lyrics, that pretty much goes without saying

(27,115 posts)There are songs from the 90s that are better, but as far as evoking the 90s, those two do it for me.

(24,146 posts)i have no idea why or how it took me 20 years to see them, but it was worth the wait. buddy holly is one of my least favorite songs ever and even hearing that was awesome.
Coventina
(27,115 posts)They aren't my favorite band, but for me, they really evoke the 90s.
It was like they were the official soundtrack of the decade, at least that was my experience.
I would definitely go see them if they ever came when I was able to go!!
fizzgig
(24,146 posts)and they're one of the few bands from that time period whose new stuff i enjoy. they weren't why we went to riot fest last year, but they were a nice bonus.

(5,604 posts)were great oddball sounds. The nineties were famous for that, another:
I fondly remember the nineties as what I image the '60s to be like but with a lot more cynicism. And drugs. And Sex. And STD's.

(5,604 posts)so I'll keep it to a few. The 90's were incredible for music. From popular stuff:
"Today" is still my fave smashing tune for the era, but Ava Adore is up there, and a great video.
Similarily, Bush; not their most rockin' song, but the most nostalgic for me:
College: beer, drugs, mysticism and sex:
Smash shit up (in a polite way):
Capping the 90's, with a fruitful decade of social, political, anarchism and activism; from the battle of Seattle to setting the stage for Occupy:

(1,893 posts)Right now, that's what it is. In 10 minutes I'll have a different favorite.
And I agree with you - lots of great music from the 90's.
