Man tries to provoke officers to a drag race, gets arrested
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- An Amarillo man was booked on two charges after pulling up next to officers at a stop light and trying to provoke them into a drag race.
On April 16 at 3:45 a.m., 4th shift PACE officers were sitting at the traffic light at SE 10th and Fillmore in an unmarked vehicle. A red 2000 Ford Mustang pulled up to the light next to the officers.
The driver of the mustang attempted to provoke officers in the unmarked vehicle by revving his engine and squealing his tires. When the light turned green, the Mustang took off at a high rate of speed, causing the tires to squeal and the vehicle to slide.
Officers in the unmarked vehicle then activated their emergency equipment and stopped the mustang at 300 SE 10th. The driver was identified as Terry Deon Noble, 46. Noble was removed from the car when the officers saw a black pistol case sitting in the passenger seat.
Inside the gun case were several plastic baggies of meth.
