I'm in culture shock.

I'm traveling right now and am spending the night in Jackson, Mississippi. Let me tell you, it's very different than Boulder! Ha, ha. Still, the people are very friendly and accommodating. Tomorrow it's on to Little Rock.

Back in the mid 80's and it was one partying place. The locals were quite nice to us. Nice memories for sure.

My sister and I visited the Clinton Library and found it very interesting. I'm in Pine Bluff tonight and then back to Little Rock tomorrow. Hope to eat the The Flying Fish if it's still there. Back to Denver on Friday.

We scattered my aunt's ashes (along with her three beloved kittehs' ashes) this morning at the family cemetery in Drew County. Also, stopped to place flowers on various relatives resting places along the way. Visiting cousins tonight. Very nostalgic trip. Weather's been wonderful. Not as hot as we would expect.

It's like we have our own internal Mason-Dixon line right here in the state. Mostly it's the inland part of Southern Delaware. The beach area isn't too bad, but probably because it's over-run with folks from the north visiting.

I remember being concerned about some of the bumper stickers I had on my van last time I drove down in this area. I do know what you mean.

I had a pro-choice bumper sticker and I remember getting pretty darn nervous when I entered the deep South. I didn't stray too far off the Interstate.

Driving from Seattle to DC to NYC, currently halfway in Sioux Falls, SD. You know, it's true what they say: the sky really is bigger here.

They're saying it might snow tonight...

But it would be interesting. Given that I have lived overseas, Jackson Mississippi couldn't be that bad.

It's just about the only place in MS I'd live. A number of excellent novelists and writers come from the area.
