it's not a special birthday (34), but we haven't done anything since anniversary extravaganza in september, so i figured why the hell not do something.
i'd thought about going up to estes park for the weekend because we haven't done that for a bit, but then i started thinking that i'd like to go somewhere new. after consulting the googles, i found a little cabin (complete with full kitchen and outdoor hot tub) on a working ranch outside one of the ski towns. my birthday is over mother's day weekend and i was skeptical that it would be available, but it was!
so we'll take a nice drive through the mountains and spend a couple nights away from the city lights. there's a smaller meteor shower the night before we go up(sad panda!), but maybe we'll get lucky.
life is so much more livable when you have something to look forward to

(149,616 posts)It sounds like a wonderful place, up in the mountains, away from the city lights......you will probably at least see some stars or maybe that meteor shower!
Have a wonderful time!

(24,146 posts)the husband suggested bringing the tent and sleeping outside one night but i just laughed. it will be upper 30s at night and i love to camp, but not when it's that cold and we're paying for a bed

(3,065 posts)I have already reserved a cabin for another New Year cruise to the Eastern Caribbean. And because I have a casino rating with the cruise line, I got a free upgrade to a cabin with a balcony. Eight months away and I'm already excited to go. My cabin is only gonna cost me about $500.
And there's nothing finer than a tropical island in winter.
