Someone really hasn't come to terms with this "computer" thing

This is an employment ad we are currently running...

http://cdapress.thejobnetwork.com/job/14091580

The company is a wholesaler of small-winery still wine and craft beer, and the job is serving as an account representative - calling on current customers and finding new ones. The job actually does sound pretty cool.

Then you get down to how to apply: "email a resume and a handwritten cover letter to <two e-mail addresses given>."

How the hell do you DO that?

1. You scan the handwritten letter then add the resulting image as an attachment to the email.

Maybe nice handwriting is a requirement of the job for some reason.

5. Which would imply that ownership of, or access to, a scanner is a job requirement

One would think that if nice handwriting is a requirement of the job - perhaps so you can fill out documentation at customers' places of business and have them be legible at their destination - they'd want you to MAIL the cover letter, in an envelope with a stamp on it. This isn't the first time someone around here has asked for a handwritten cover letter, but most of them ask you to either send it in via the US Postal Service or to hand-deliver it to the company.

2. Can't you use the "write" option in Word?

3. Scan and attach, I suppose. I like that they ask for a handwritten cover letter.

I think it's a fair way to assess the whole candidate, find out if they can work without a work processor, write legibly, spell and use grammar correctly.

I like it!

Attach to email.

Send.

Seems like a weird request, but that'll get it done.

I once got a seasonal job at the mall because I was the only applicant who filled in a section of the application correctly...something along the lines of "How many and which languages do you speak fluently?" According to the interviewer, I was the only one who wrote "One. English." Everybody else put "None."

so asking for a handwritten letter makes perfect sense.

15. I could easily do that with my tablet

isn't that one of the reasons for using one? Just write it up in Windows Journal and send.
