Something you may not want to know about spiders.

3. When we shine a light on the lawn at night we see hundreds of tiny lights.

The lights are spider eyes. Seriously. As the next poster said, we are surrounded by spiders. And we can't do a thing about it.

2. Unless you are inside one of the polar circles you are not more than six feet from a

spider. We have one, named Charlotte, living in the master bath. She's taken up residence between the toilet and the wall in a corner. She's been there at least six months and every few months I clean the carcasses from the web and floor. The next day she's back sitting in her new clean web. She's a bit smaller than the end of a paper match.

Why should I mind a tiny creature that cleans the house of no-see-ums?

5. I did not need to know that.

I hate spiders. I live in a rural area of north Georgia and will be totally freaked out when I go into the yard at night.

6. Don't step off the sidewalk. When we were kids were used to hunt nightcrawlers for fishing.

At night, of course. We remarked several times on the number of spiders we were seeing. Little did we know.
