We live in Germany, and, for 99% of BMW drivers, the cartoon is, unfortunately, true.

We are in the 1%

Germans tend to take driving pretty seriously.

It's the ones here in the states. Lexus drivers are worse.

In general, they are aggressive, egoistic and reckless.

Like I said--we are in the 1%

Don't know about Lexus--we don't see many of those in Germany.

5. I lived in Germany and didn't notice

That was decades ago.

Most of the cars on the road were either Mercedes, BMW, or Volkswagen and I just didn't discern that much difference from any of those three. What I did notice was the average German driver was an order of magnitude better than the average American driver.

The average German driver is impatient, aggressive, and, in general, a danger to be on the road with. We both take public transportation whenever it's feasible, and we drive two of the safest and most reliable German cars built. Their technology may save their drivers from some mayhem, but in general, when they have a collision, they have a monster. My wife was almost killed while parked at a red light in the right lane when a truck, driven by a tired German, decided to turn right from the left lane, and was so high up, he didn't see her in her station wagon (or so he said). He demolished it. The only reason she crawled out of the wreck alive is because her car was so sturdily built. Had she been in a Passat, she would have been killed instantly.

7. The traffic fatality rate in the US is almost 3 times that of Germany

If you look at it per miles driven, it's still almost twice that of Germany which isn't really a fair comparison since the US is far less population dense.

pick up trucks, Toyotas, Jeeps, and Suburbans than I do lousy BMW drivers.
