I am able to stay in touch with former co-workers who without this means would have most likely just lost touch completely. Like anything else it has it's pluses and minuses....

is a benefit as far I am concerned.

I love my brothers but I don't need to be around them dopes for any length of time. We check in with each other a couple times a year. That's plenty.

I found out on Facebook that my great granddaughter was born last night - 4 hours after the fact. My granddaughter lives less than 4 miles from me.

I've gotten texts from family wishing they could hug us yet they only live a half hour away. No phone call.

amongst my friends. We have a friend in Japan with cancer, so Skype is great for talking with and seeing him. He's too weak to write much at the moment.

anyone who claims they "don't have time" really means it is just not worth the effort

My mom has never signed up and my brother doesn't have a computer. I have less than 100 Facebook friends total and keep my settings as tight as possible for security reasons. For phone calls I use Skype. I live in South Korea and have a phone number in Oregon that my family can call and it rings through to my computer or smart phone (granted you have to have an internet connection or data plan). That costs me $60 a month, but it is great because they can call and talk to me for as long as they want.

That's really the only reason I use FB.

I have family that lives 1200 miles from me. Our lives and schedules don't often leave us free for phone conversations at the same time. We see each other face-to-face at least once a year. In between, we keep up with FB and random phone calls when we both are free to talk.

I spend face-to-face time with the family local to me every week. We see each other on FB, but don't use it for personal communications.

We do have a private family group on FB that is specifically for posting schedules and organizing details for times we're getting together.
