My last living grandparent, my mom's mom, had a stroke last week.

She is 92 years old. She is recovering remarkably well considering what happened to her and her age. The stroke damaged the part of her brain that controls her left side. She was unable to speak, walk, or use her left arm immediately after the stroke. She has recovered her speech, although it's a bit slurry. She can move her left leg now and take a few steps with assistance. And she has recovered full use of her left arm.

My wife and I visited her today and my wife was bragging about how she got me to listen to some old time country music including Hank Williams Sr. My grandma said that was her kind of music.

On the way home my wife was looking up information about strokes on her iPad. She found that listening to music can help stroke victims recover better.

When we got back in town, I went to a local music store. I got grandma a CD player walkman and some good headphones. I was lucky when I searched the CD bins. I found a three disc set of Hank Williams Senior. The compilation has 75 songs!

My wife is going back to visit again early next week and she'll set grandma up with the music. At the very least it should make her hospital stay more tolerable.

I think she'll be thrilled to have the music!

I'm glad she's doing this well.
