Time to open the windows

My inside temp is 87 but the outside temp has finally dropped from 97 to 79.

Just one of the critical considerations many of us in hot areas like Socal have weighing on our minds.

I try not to spend all my time sitting in front of the thermostat to time my windows just right, I swear I do!

I live in the high desert Antelope Valley of North L.A. County, Where we tend to be much hotter than L.A. in the summers and much cooler in the winters.

We can get windy here, but in the heat there is often no wind to speak of and opening windows does little to cool us down.

I avoid using A/C as much as I can. And maybe it's just me, but I acclimate to hot weather pretty well and even get a chill when my indoor temp drops below 80.

The really hard part is reacclimating when cooler weather sets in. I know I do better with it if I force myself to go out and spend some time in in the cold weather. But I'm such a wimp that I try to avoid that.

It was 99 degrees today but it's supposed to be "only" 92 tomorrow and 78 the next day.

Get outta here, summer!! You've overstayed your welcome.

It's trying to sleep when it's still hot inside I have trouble with.

Ah well, it will be cooling off soon

I've learned to sleep in hot temps, though I used to need it around 65. I deal with heat much better than with cold. Maybe just because I've grown older?

But despite our North/South rivalries, my heart really goes out to NorCal with the fires. That conflagration East of Sacramento is horrendous!

I'm not surprised, though-- I assumed that it would be bad toward the end of summer. I just hope we
get our rain... soon!!

4. anything above 78 is hot for me

anything above 85 is terrible. anything over 90 is unbearable. i'm happier than a pig in shit that we've already dropped below 50 at night and i still have the fans in the window. i still have a week or two before the great open-window battle starts with the husband.

but, for as uncomfortable as it is for me to adjust to hot weather, i know it must be equally uncomfortable for you to adjust to cold weather.

6. How much do I love my 'weathergirl'?

The woman metereologist on CBS2 news in L.A. is fantastic.

The male metereologist who's on when she's not there sorta sucks. One thing I've noticed is that he seems to have an affinity only for certain areas when he gives the day's temps and the forecast. Maybe I noticed because I live in one of the areas he never mentions. Compared to our professional 'weathergirl' meteoroligist whose reports have covered and mentioned all of the many communities in our widespread area.

I LOVE my 'weathergirl.' As a professional meteorologist, I think she's great. (I should make it clear that I am not a professional metereologist, she is).

And yes, I know I'm replying to my own OP. Deal with it.
