Went to a Cobb theater to see "Black Mass".
After the movie I saw they were taking down one of the posters outside.
"What do you do with those? Do they go to another theater?"
"Nope. We store them for a while, then scrap them or give them away."
"Could I have that one (Black Mass)?"
"Speak to the lady inside at Customer Service. She'll put your name on the list. First come, first served."
I did.
My plan:
1. Get the poster.
2. Send it to Depp's agent with a request that Depp autograph it.
3. If that works I have a very collectible item, especially if Depp is nominated for an Academy Award. More so if he wins.

(82,333 posts)The last week before it closed they had tons of old posters in the lobby that they just stored for years. They were free as a thank you to the community. I spent about forty minutes rifling through them and I found four posters for cartoons I had taken my kids to see in that drive-in years ago. They're hanging in their rooms now, stained and unsigned.

(54,256 posts)Depp is surely in line for at least an Oscar nomination for this role.
There is a fair amount of violence but not that much gore.
Some reviews have said that Depp somewhat humanizes James 'Whitey' Bulger.
That wasn't my take.
In an interview, Depp reportedly said that no one is entirely evil.
Maybe not, but Whitey comes damn close IMHO.
If you want to see the inner workings of Bulger's Winter Hill Gang and their unholy alliance with FBI agent John Connolly, this movie nails it
