(72,300 posts)Thank you!
I doubt if Recursion would be happy in our sleepy little neck of the woods.

(72,300 posts)I'll be working for the growers.
I'll be watering, deadheading, keeping healthy plants lookin' good and discarding ones past their prime.

Sorry, just had to throw that one out.
Constitutionally unable to ignore a straight line. It's a curse.

(28,394 posts)If no one is looking, you could probably rescue some of those past-their-prime petunias, pansies, etc. and re-home them! Shhhhhh!
Last summer, I nearly drove off the road when I saw the K-Mart people hauling carts of plants to the dumpster! They could have put them out for free and people would have taken them. Such a waste.
Think of all the seeds you can get when you dead-head!

(72,300 posts)I was told they couldn't be rescued. Bummer! Nor can we bring 'em back to good health beyond using an alcohol and water spray.

(28,394 posts)What fun that would be!
That's too bad that they won't allow rescues though. Oh well, even summer flowers must eventually come to an end.

(72,300 posts)Water Lilies refuse to thrive in my pond. This year I was gonna pay big bucks for one plant. I'll see what gets shipped into the store and try shopping local one more time.
Summer annuals are great to fill in between the perennials.

(72,300 posts)I've got some work to do before my job starts.
Standing and walking for 4 or 5 hours on a concrete floor will take some getting used-to.
Starting this Sunday I'm going to a large store and walk around a few hours every other day. I've got a bit of arthritis in my hips so I need to get moving now to make it through my first week. The boss is willing to work with me. So I'll ask to have a day off in between my working days whenever possible until I'm back up to speed.
Good luck on your job search.

(23,222 posts)And GOOD LUCK with it!
(I'm applying for a new one myself. Even though my current boss is awesome to work for (in every respect), I seriously need something that's more in my wheelhouse. I'm killing myself with this one. The hours I've put in in the past year are murder (but the money's been decent), no bennies other than a great guy to work for who bends over backwards to accommodate my extracurricular demands; and I'm gettin' too friggin' old to be doing physical work that should be done by somebody at least twenty years younger.)
