Congratulations Northern California

You are about to get a significant amount of precip. from 2 or 3 storms with snow in mountains.

I tend to keep an eye on these things as a former resident of Sacramento.

I hope Folsom Lake gets a big fill-up since it was near bottom when I left.

Same for Shasta too.

Water crisis averted?

We still have a lot of catching up to do, even with these good storms coming in.

Every bit helps!

the opposite of El Nino, so next winter is likely to be dry yet again.

but I still have an interest because my daughter and 2 grandsons are in Orange County.

Yeah, another La Nina would put you guys back on the dry cycle yet again.

It didn't happen. It has been a warm winter. Yesterday I noticed that the mesquite tree next to the
house was already in bloom. Mesquite!--The tree that always waits until April or early May. Weird.
Over 80 degrees here lately. At least I'm saving on firewood.

to the tune of an inch to an inch and a half on the flats.

Hopefully it will have tapered off somewhat as I undertake a two-hour-plus public transit journey from San Jose to Berkeley Sunday morning.

Folsom is a relatively small reservoir compared to its drainage basin. It's, like, 63% full, but they have already started releasing water to avoid flooding when the snowpack melts.
