A Montgomery County animal services officer rescued an injured bald eagle, which was later named Trust, in the Potomac area.
It started about 8:45 a.m. Thursday when police said they received calls about an injured eagle in the area of River Road and Riverwood Drive.
Officer Jennifer Gill went to the area and was told by a resident that the eagle was spotted walking into nearby woods. She found the eagle in the woods. The bird had an injury that prevented it from flying.
Gill wrapped the eagle in towels, and Danny Thomas, an officer with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, helped her put the eagle in a carrier. The eagle was taken to the Owl Moon Raptor Center in Boyds, Md.

An examination at the raptor center found the eagle had suffered a soft tissue injury. Authorities said the injury appeared to be relatively recent because the eagle was otherwise at a healthy weight.
Gill named the eagle Trust.

It's another snowy morning at the Hanover nest and Mom is keeping the eggs nice and warm. Three squirrels decide to play chase on the branches just out of reach of Mom, silly squirrels don't know just how fast Mom can be.

(205,338 posts)They took in injured wild creatures there, everything from bats to bears to big cats, animals that could no longer live on their own in the wild. I adopted the corn snake for my grandmother, since she developed a fondness after having a nice chat with the reptile caretaker and being allowed to hold it, but my heart went out to the raptors since they looked so unhappy...

(72,300 posts)Corn snakes are sweet and North Carolina is beautiful. I miss springtime in the Smokies.

(205,338 posts)It's certainly beautiful country! When she moved South from New York, she chose that area partially because they still had a change of seasons. But when they even had a "dusting" of snow, not enough to even disturb me, LOL, people sure freaked out! One other thing that particularly impressed me was the flowers planted on the medians of the highways, yellow daffodils and red poppies, that I remember, just gorgeous!
And of all the animals, the ones that most broke my heart were the hawks...

(72,300 posts)I've watched eagles in the wild. There is nothing that compares to a raptor in flight.
