The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI had my first porter last night.
It was by Founders and it was mighty tasty. It used to be that I did not like the really dark beers, but my tastes have changed over time. About three years ago, I started getting into brown beers after drinking yellow beers for all of my adult life. Now I'm starting to get into the black stuff. Yum, yum.

(60,014 posts)we've been all stouts and porters for years now, but in small quantities - many are really high alcohol. Founders is a great microbrewery - their Breakfast Stout is a favorite. To check your limits, look for and try Bells Expedition Stout and Oskar Blues Ten Fidy - two of the hugest beers I've had (and I dearly love them both).
Young's or Rogue's chocolate stout with a scoop of vanilla ice cream make quite the dessert!

(4,033 posts)I was in heaven when I was in Ireland, it wasn't just Guinness but (can't remember) other local dark beers. My younger brother works at a beer warehouse. They're the distributors for all kinds of beer. He gets an employee discount, so I invite him to all family festivities he always brings me whatever dark beer they have, lately it's been Guinness, and I can deal with that, until something new comes along.
