Anchovies and Rosemary - Worth it to live longer?

O.K. - another one of those wonder foods (in this case a combo) that will increase your life span. Study of a small Italian village of overly fat, cigarette smoker found the 600 inhabitants had a longer than normal life span.

YES - they are exposed to fresh air, fresh caught fish - anchovies - , hike around a lot and have a good gene pool. But a common thread back for centuries is the rosemary/anchovies in their daily diet.

Me, I love anchovies by mushing it on hard Italian slices with a tomato/olives mix and putting it into sauces. Rosemary on lamb and potatoes - wonderful stuff.

Wife leaves the room at the mention of anchovies. Tolerates rosemary.

They have managed to survive several of our relatively mild Texas winters and long periods of very hot days and no rain during the summers.

Thought I could live without rosemary, but neighbor grows it so maybe I'll borrow it more often than not.

Looks good to me!

The town is a part of "Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park", whose natural environment is made up of the "maquis shrubland" typical of the Mediterranean region.

It is a major tourist destination, especially during summer, because it has grown famous nationally for of its water quality, having earned the "Blue Flag beach" title[2] and the "Five Sails" of Legambiente, an Italian environmentalist association, for several years.

Culture[edit]
After World War II, Ernest Hemingway chose Acciaroli as a place to stay during trips to Italy.

kind of a twist on 'oio e aio'. And I like them in other ways, but I have used them most commonly in this way.

Rosemary is STRONG - I do like it on steak sometimes, but I could live without it.

take a few relatively straight rosemary branches from a well-established bush soak them in water for a few hours , remove leaves, put onions/par-boiled little potatoes/marinated lamb cubes on the rosemary skewers and grill on the BBQ - heavenly stuff.
