National French Toast Day Theres a blend that just makes our morning fantastic, and its a blending of eggs, milk, and cinnamon with bread dipped in. Theres something about the savory sweet smell of it, and the anticipation of having it painted with butter and drizzled with syrup, with a side of breakfast sausage and a tall glass of orange juice thatll get us out of bed on even the worst of days. French Toast Day is honors this amazing breakfast delight, and encourages you to enjoy it for breakfast with a few friends. https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/french-toast-day/Cyber Monday I have an email box full of offers from I believe everyone I have ever done online business with at this point. Happy Clicking (either to delete or to take advantage of a good deal)

(28,394 posts)1. It's a perfect day for French toast and cyber shopping!
Our local walmart has a reduced baked goods rack. I get a loaf of French bread for 50 cents and make a ton of French toast from it. Easy and cheap!
Vive la France!

(17,195 posts)2. You make French toast from French bread?
Isn't that like incest? Or maybe narcissism?

Isn't that why it is called French toast?
In France, its name is pain perdu, which literally means lost bread, because it would often be made with stale or old bread.
Walmart has lots of stale bread. malthaussen
(17,195 posts)4. I confess, I use the frozen stuff now.
I stopped buying white bread quite a few years ago, and whole wheat isn't really appropriate for French toast. I haven't had a loaf of French bread for awhile, either. I used to like buying the occasional 20-foot long stick and snacking my way through it all day long. But alas, my carbohydrates caught up with me.
