In July and early August of this year I was out of work. I had gotten fired on July 5th. I've only felt that lost one other time in my life and that was when I was suffering from medical problems.
But the good guys won one for a change. I found the best job of my life the second week of August and started on August 15th. Now I almost have too much work, but I'm not going to complain. The money is good and a change is coming that will give me more time off. I've been putting in 52-63 hours a week since I got hired on and I was supposed to have a 4 day work week! But, like I said, it's a good problem to have especially this time of the year. They hired someone else who is going to take the pressure off. I should be at 42 hours a week after this week unless I want more work. In other words, I'll have the option to work more. Right now it is required.
A month and a half seemed like an eternity to me to be out of a job, but I know it's really a short time and others have suffered for much longer than that in the past. I can't help but wonder if the same availability of jobs is going to endure under Trump.

(23,339 posts)A four-day workweek should be 96 hours. Since you're only working 63 hours, you're enjoying a lot of down time.
Get back to work.
Anyway, congratulations on a good job, hopefully long-term.
