So I've been really sad about Carrie Fisher

I struggle with depression and she was so open about being bipolar, taking meds and even getting ECT. Her openess probably helped some people to get treatment and may have even saved some lives. She was a hero to me. To top it off, she had just turned 60 in October and I will also in January. So I've shed some tears today.

One of my cats, Maestro, is normally pretty snuggly, but today he has just been a Velcro kitty 🐱. My mother had a cat, Sweetie, that would lay by her when she was sick from chemo. Sweetie would even put her paws on Mama's cheeks, holding her head ever so gently.

So do your pets know when you're feeling sick or sad?

and pay extra attention to me when it occurs. They seem to have a better understanding of me than any human does.

Once when I sprained my knee and it hurt like hell, one of my cats would lie against it and purr. Somehow he knew that knee was injured and he wanted to fix it by purring - which actually does work: https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/why-do-cats-purr/

to have me napping during the day. I agree with you she saved lives. That is quite a legacy...all those she helped.

if I have a fever, he tries to take advantage of the heat

when I'm just down, he howls at me until I respond in a "normal" fashion

I hear you about Carrie - she was just so open and honest, didn't hold back

They have been awesome these last 2 months, too. I'm not normally plagued by depression, but I have been seriously depressed since November 8 and they've been such a help. I don't think I could've gotten by this long without them. I'm so glad you have furry nurses, too. Please give your precious Maestro a scritch under the chin for me.
