Is it getting better
Or do you feel the same
Will it make it easier on you
Now you got someone to blame
You say
One love
One life
When it's one need
In the night
It's one love
We get to share it
It leaves you baby
If you don't care for it
Did I disappoint you?
Or leave a bad taste in your mouth?
You act like you never had love
And you want me to go without
Well it's too late
Tonight
To drag the past out
Into the light
We're one
But we're not the same
We get to carry each other
Carry each other
One
Have you come here for forgiveness
Have you come to raise the dead
Have you come here to play Jesus
To the lepers in your head
Did I ask too much
More than a lot
You gave me nothing
Now it's all I got
We're one
But we're not the same
We hurt each other
Then we do it again
You say
Love is a temple
Love a higher law
Love is a temple
Love the higher law
You ask me to enter
But then you made me crawl
And I can't be holding on
To what you got
When all you got is hurt
One love
One blood
One life
You got to do what you should
One life
With each other
Sisters
Brothers
One life
But we're not the same
We get to carry each other
Carry each other
One
One

Clock strikes ten it's a Saturday night
Got money in my pocket and it feels allright
Not stayin' home gonna stay out late
Gotta hear some rockin' music and it feels just great
Clock strikes twelve on a Saturday night
All the creeps are sleepin' all the cools in sight
All the kings and queens, they're out tonight
Lookin' for some action 'til I feel allright
Imagine what we're doin' tonight
You really got me goin' tonight
Imagine what we're doin' tonight
I'm crazy for some action tonight
Clock strikes two out all night
All my money's spent but that's allright
Not goin' home gonna stay out late
Get ready for some action want some action tonight
Imagine what we're doin' tonight
You really got me goin' tonight
Imagine what we're doin' tonight
I'm crazy for some action tonight
Clock stikes four I want some more
Everybody's layin' on the floor

In Michael Moore's 2nd film, "The Big One"..he visits Cheap Trick lead guitarist Rick Nielsen at his home (In Rockford, Illinois, I think) and it's hilarious.

"The Big One" is a great movie, imo (and rarely ever mentioned)
I've probably seen it at least 25 times..

American Forces Network Berlin is a very important station in the history of radio - the first station anywhere in the world to broadcast around the clock. One fine day a DJ who had just been assigned to Berlin out of Broadcast Journalism school (and who apparently had never heard any Dylan before) decided Rainy Day Women was exactly the song twenty thousand people who aren't allowed to smoke weed needed to hear. Fortunately, the general had a sense of humor.

If you happen to "do" FaceBook, Johnny Echols of Love has a lively page going there. Very liberal, as well. The rest of the original band is long dead now, except for Snoopy Pfisterer, but he's kind of a mental casualty.

Love could have been fantastically great, and over the long haul, but they were too volatile and most of the guys got into heroin (including Johnny, who somehow survived).

Oh father high in heaven -- smile down upon your son
whose busy with his money games -- his women and his gun.
Oh Jesus save me!
And the unsung Western hero killed an Indian or three
and made his name in Hollywood
to set the white man free.
Oh Jesus save me!
If Jesus saves -- well, He'd better save Himself
from the gory glory seekers who use His name in death.
Oh Jesus save me!
I saw him in the city and on the mountains of the moon --
His cross was rather bloody --
He could hardly roll His stone.
Oh Jesus save me!

115. 17 - Jethro Tull
Fri Feb 3, 2017, 12:13 AM
Feb 2017

I remember when
we had a lot of things to do,
impressed by all the words we read
and the heroes that we knew.
Climb on your your dream,
a dream of our own making
to find a place that we could later lose
to whatever time would bring.

We were seventeen
and the cakeman was affecting you,
moving you to greater things
(in a lesser way) you had to prove.
The clock struck summertime.
You were going round in circles now.
Wishing you were seventeen.
At twenty-one, it was a long time gone.

And now here you are.
You're locked in your own excuse.
The circle's getting smaller every day.
You're busy planning your next fifty years.
So stay the way you are
and keep your head down to the same old ground.
Just paint your picture boy until you find
a closed circle's better than an open line.

Yes stay the way you are.
I got a circle that's the same as yours.
It may be bigger, but I've more to lose.
Who is the luckier man me or you?

117. For a thousand mothers - Jethro Tull
Fri Feb 3, 2017, 12:14 AM
Feb 2017

Did you hear mother --
saying I'm wrong but I know I'm right.
Did you hear father?
Calling my name into the night.
Saying I'll never be what I am now.
Telling me I'll never find what I've already found.
It was they who were wrong,
and for them here's a song.

Did you hear baby --
come back and tell you the things he's seen.
Did it surprise you
to be picked up at eight in a limousine?
Doing the things he's accustomed to do.
Which at one time it seemed like a dream
now it's true.
And unknowing
you made it all happen this way.

Did you hear mother --
saying I'm wrong but I know I'm right.
Did you hear father?
Calling my name into the night.
Saying I'll never be what I am now.
Telling me I'll never find what I've already found.
It was they who were wrong
and for them here's a song.

One of my favorite lines in any song:

"His foot nudged the brakes to slow him down.

But the pedal floored easy without a sound.

He said "Christ!"

It was funny how he had named the only man who could save him now."

123. "One White Duck / 0{10} Nothing At All" - Jethro Tull
Fri Feb 3, 2017, 12:18 AM
Feb 2017

[This may be the only song with an exponent in the title]

There's a haze on the skyline, to wish me on my way.
And there's a note on the telephone --- some roses on a
tray.
And the motorway's stretching right out to us all,
as I pull on my old wings --- one white duck
on your wall.
Isn't it just too damn real?
I'll catch a ride on your violin --- strung upon your bow.
And I'll float on your melody --- sing your chorus soft
and low.
There's a picture-view postcard to say that I called.
You can see from the fireplace, one white duck
on your wall.
Isn't it just too damn real?

So fly away Peter and fly away Paul --- from the
finger-tip ledge of contentment.
The long restless rustle of high-heeled boots calls.
And I'm probably bound to deceive you after all.

Something must be wrong with me and my brain ---
if I'm so patently unrewarding.
But my dreams are for dreaming and best left that
way --- and my zero to your power of ten equals
nothing at all.

There's no double-lock defense; there's no chain on my door.
I'm available for consultation,
But remember your way in is also my way out, and
love's four-letter word is no compensation.

Well, I'm the Black Ace dog-handler: I'm a waiter on
skates --- so don't you jump to your foreskin conclusion.
Because I'm up to my deaf ears in cold breakfast trays ---
to be cleared before I can dine on your sweet Sunday
lunch confusion.

Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And set yourself free

178. One Meat Ball -- Josh White
Fri Feb 3, 2017, 08:42 PM
Feb 2017

The little man walked up and down
To find an eating place in town
He read the menu through and through
To see what 15 cents could do

He told the waiter near at hand
The simple dinner he had planned
The guests were startled one and all
To hear the waiter loudly call

One meat ball Everybody
One meat ball
Hey this here gent wants one meat ball

The little man felt ill at ease
He said, some bread sir, if you please
The waiter hollered down the hall
You gets no bread with one meat ball

One meat ball
One meat ball
You gets no bread with one meat ball

The little man felt very bad
One meat ball was all he had
And in his dreams he hears that call
You gets no bread with one meat ball

Seem to be stuck on car songs today. Will have to look up who did 409. (It's an engine, not the household cleaner)

OK, Beach Boys. Thought maybe it was Jan and Dean.
