From the wiki:"Hearts of Stone" is an American R&B song. It was written by Eddie Ray and Rudy Jackson,[1] a member of the San Bernardino, California-based rhythm and blues vocal group the Jewels (no relation to the female Jewels group from Washington, DC) which first recorded it for the R&B label in 1954. The Jewels began as a gospel group, then became the Marbles, recording for the Lucky label out of Los Angeles.
This song was covered extensively.

(3,569 posts)Foolish Heart"
Carve your name
Carve your name in ice and wind
Search for where
Search for where the rivers end
Or where the rivers start
Do everything that's in you
That you feel to be your part
But never give your love, my friend,
Unto a foolish heart
Leap from ledges
Leap from ledges high and wild
Learn to speak
Speak with wisdom like a child
Directly from the heart
Crown yourself the king of clowns
Or stand way back apart
But never give your love, my friend
Unto a foolish heart
Shun a friend
Shun a brother and a friend
Never look
Never look around the bend
Or check a weatherchart
Sign the Mona Lisa
With a spraycan, call it art
But never give your love, my friend
Unto a foolish heart
A foolish heart will call on you
To toss your dreams away
Then turn around and blame you
For the way you went astray
A foolish heart will cost you sleep
And often make you curse
A selfish heart is trouble
But a foolish heart is worse
Bite the hand
Bite the hand that bakes your bread
Dare to leap
Where the angels fear to tread
Till you are torn apart
Stoke the fires of paradise
With coals from Hell to start
But never give your love, my friend
Unto a foolish heart
Unto a foolish heart....
Why the Dead endures. This is an incredible song from their last album. It became a fan favorite and the band never favored songs, so it was a part of their shows.

(24,867 posts)Rilkean heart I looked for you
To give me transcendent experiences
To transport me out of self and aloneness
And alienation into a sense of
One-ness and connection ecstatic and magical
I became a junkie for it
I came looking for the next high
And I'm sorry
I've been putting the search on the wrong place
I understand that you're confused
Feeling overwhelmed
Well that's a feeling state from then
The reality, with cleaning up my emotion of life
And I'm getting in touch with myself
I'm beginning to ground myself
In my own sense of being as an entity
One entity on the planet
Becoming truly self-reliant and become connected
With something beyond me
That is where I have to go
I'm so sorry
I've been putting the search on the wrong place
You're lost and don't know what to do
But that's not all of you
That's your reality today
And that is all okay
I understand that you're confused,
Feeling overwhelmed
Well that's a feeling state from then
The reality
You're lost and don't know what to do
But it's not all of you
That's the reality today
And now it's all okay
I understand that you're confused,
Feeling overwhelmed
Well that's a feeling state from then
The reality

(4,603 posts)"You've Gotta Have Heart, Lots and Lots and Lots of Heart" was a song from the Depression era movies we watched on TV. It kept them going, and it kept me going, too. "Turn On Your Heart Light" was a song from about twenty years ago, and it was about somebody who loved somebody and wondered if he maybe could be loved back (I think).
