Ever since seeing a huge flock of Canadian Geese heading north, last month, I've been hoping for a freakishly early Spring to raise my rather defeated spirits.
This morning I noticed that my Daffodils are pushing up through the soil!!! And Saturday's forecast is for temps in the high 50's! I just hope Mother Nature isn't just messing with me.

(16,104 posts)They were mocking global warming while prancing around NYC in the snow! "See - what global warming? Snow!"
I had to remind myself, "It's February!"
When it snows in February, and that is proof that the world is not getting warmer - where do we go from here?

(26,260 posts)For us, the winters of 2013 and 2014 were record breakers for both snow depth and cold temperatures.
Last year was a little more snowy than this year. And I remind myself that one of the harshest snow storms, in my lifetime, happened in the month of April, so I'm not going to pack away the snow blower, just yet.
I am not a fan of either snow or cold weather, but I appreciate that they are necessary and I feel really sorry for the people who make their living off of the snow, either clearing it, or running ski resorts. But at least it has been cold enough to make artificial snow.

(26,260 posts)The deepest snow fall we've had, this winter, was 11" and it was gone within about a week. Anything else has been in the neighborhood of 4" and now we are snow-free.
I'm not a fan of snow or cold weather, but I do feel bad for the people who make a living from the results of a normal winter season.
But, of course, since this is Michigan, we could be buried in snow several more times, before the season really switches. I remember one of the worst snow storms I've ever experienced happened in the month of April

(22,756 posts)I know of what you speak... I was supposed to be in Oakland County this week working but I retired last week my daughter is there in my stead... she was quite surprised to find the weather quite mild there...
I believe it was the winter of 78 that proved to be a big one there

(26,260 posts)I'm so bad with dates, but I'm thinking it was between 74 and 76. I think that was the same year that, shortly after the snow disappeared, we had torrential rains and were hit by a "100 year flood". It was insane.

(26,260 posts)We had that sort of winter during both 2013 and 2014. I have a wimpy little snowblower, but fortunately also have a wonderful neighbor who watches out, for me, and helps me dig out, when ever the snow is deeper than a few inches.
