This cold going around IS HORRIBLE

I'm in my fourth day of it. I strained an oblique coughing last night. I used my last spoonful of the really good cough syrup from India (basically, 4% alcohol and 1% codeine) yesterday, and now I'm stuck with the lame "safe" and "non-addictive" stuff I can get here in the US.

Avoid this cold!!!!

I can't seem to get rid of it and I'm very, very tired of it. The coughing has subsided a bit but I haven't been able to taste food for weeks and I can't go anywhere without an ample supply of Kleenex. I hope you recover soon because it sucks.

I rang my daughters in the middle of December to tell them not to come round for my birthday as I didn't want the grandkids to get my flu which was just starting up. I eventually got rid of it towards the end of January!! Some people here have had it for up to 10 weeks!!

All I can say is Gesundheit (even though that's German - not too far from Dutch).

Buckets of Nyquil, and Kleenex produced from the deforestation of an entire county. It's an industrial-strength cold with a touch of bronchitis thrown in and I am very very tired of it. Flu has started going around here, too, and I hope I don't get that on top of this thing.

Geshundheit to you, too...

very uncomfortable dry cough that just doesn't stop. I have to excuse myself from meetings at work so I can go out in the hallway and hack up a lung.

it's about now when one person gets it and it travels through the group. Flu has been bad around here lately.

Hope you feel better soon!

That cough syrup from India sounds great. Mucinex DM XS and Hall's Defense hardly controls the incessant cough. This hacking has been going on since just after Xmas.

I've avoided it, being out here at the river mostly near geese, but heading into 'town' later today to see a doc (for a pre-op exam, for cataract surgery,) so HOPE I don't run into any of those bad germs.

and I came down with it Monday night. Better yesterday...worse today. So far, I don't have the cough.
But my husband sounds like he's hacking up his lungs at night.

We are planning to visit our youngest son over the weekend. Decided not to cancel the trip last night...now wish we had.

The sunshine vitamin is vital for healthy bones, but also has a role in the immune system.

The analysis, published in the British Medical Journal, argues food should be fortified with the vitamin.

But Public Health England (PHE) says the infections data is not conclusive, although it does recommend supplements.

These, it says, should be taken for improved bone and muscle health.

The immune system uses vitamin D to make antimicrobial weapons that puncture holes in bacteria and viruses.

At least I had my flu shot.

The rest of the family just got over a couple bad bout of two different flu strains that started the end of December - the bronchial one and the one that feels like food poisoning on top of the bronchial flu.

I spent a forced day off (last Saturday) in bed due to that cold, and I haven't had another day off since I got back over here (Jan. 23). I haven't gotten rid of it yet, either, and the fact that I am getting up between 4 and 5 AM and then traveling every day, and not getting to bed until after midnight every day is not speeding up my recovery.
