Mine is particularly severe and has persisted since I was very small, drove my parents nuts.

I always gravitated to night jobs at the Fed, in show biz, in retail, and in health care.

And can I also say holly shit!

I'm in my late thirties and I'm just now finding out that I'm not actually lazy or a freak, I just have a condition.

Believe it or not, that is reassuring. I have made an appointment with a psychiatrist at my boyfriend's request....not about this, but I'll be sure to bring it up!

Seriously, since I was a little kid! My poor parents, they tried to understand, but none of us could figure it out. School sucked(I did well) jobs have sucked (also did "well&quot but my whole life I've felt like I was in a dream......

Until last November, now it's more like a nightmare......

But that actually helps a lot.......accept the part about no known cure.....

But at least knowing what the score is, well, that does make me feel better

Thank you, and solidarity Jackson

I managed to work a 9-5 job for 20 years... but on VERY little sleep. I'd come home from work and nap, then stay up til 4. Now that I work from home I'm up til at least 5am if not 8, and I sleep until sometime between 2 and 4.

A lot more people see themselves. I think it's more common than "they" think it is.

When people asked why I went into nursing, I said it was so I could work at night in comfortable shoes. It really wasn't that far from the truth.

I'm up and very awake 4 hours later. Then I feel like shite and go back to sleep 4 hours after that and the whole day is kind of wrecked.

Thank goodness for the web and people in Australia.

I remember the first Christmas I was on DU, I wished a Merry Christmas to a homesick American who was in Egypt - obviously in an unusual time zone for most DUers. Later on, I remember seeing a post from the same DUer, saying how much it meant that he was to find kindred spirits when he needed them when he was so far from home on the holiday. Somebody's always awake somewhere...
