(42,641 posts)A joke. It is similar in texture to pecan pie, but obviously without the pecans. My grandmother and mother made it as a treat.

(12,132 posts)However, I wouldn't leave the table in a huff if someone threw a peach pie down in front of me.
Or chocolate silk.
Or real key lime.

(39,343 posts)You didn't mean pizza pie?
Kimchijeon
(1,606 posts)Although pineapple on a pizza kinda sorta counts for a lil' sweetness.
All pie is good pie.
Well.... except for cowpies, I guess.
Kimchijeon
(1,606 posts)Maybe with ice cream ♥

(8,445 posts)Apparently Jello no longer makes the cook and serve banana pudding, and I don't like instant pudding, and I didn't feel like buying extra ingredients to make it from scratch, so I made chocolate cream instead. My dad used to love it. My husband said he doesn't like cream pies, but apparently he never had a good one because he has been gobbling mine up. Next up will be lemon meringue, which I didn't see on your list.
Edit: I didn't see lemon squeezed on after lime, as if it's only an afterthought. j/k

(1,606 posts)I was trying to cram in as much pie by doubling up a few on the poll spots.
banana cream pie is amazing! *drool*

(8,445 posts)I'm not sure I can forgive you for putting up a picture of that yummy banana cream pie.
Seriously, though, thank you for putting up this light-hearted post. It's nice to have a diversion.

(55,007 posts)not hard to make from scratch either - http://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/banana-cream-pudding-pie/8d4da362-7cae-4480-b751-3736a158e696
I will definitely try the "from scratch" recipe, even though I vowed I wasn't going to make any more pies for awhile because I eat too much of it.

last summer I made a pretty good blueberry/strawberry/raspberry/blackberry pie for 4th of July.
I totally forgot about chocolate cream pie too!
I like making stuff with whatever is on hand, it can be fun...for uh, science.

(20,975 posts)plum * blueberry. sour cherries from the farmers market. i found a little quiche pan. figured out crust this spring. and i lost weight. a win win. 1 whole big tart a day. i like lemon too. lime & blueberry curd. might try grapefruit curd tho.
Kimchijeon
(1,606 posts)little quiche or tart sized pies ♥
[img][/img]
Although I just usually make two at once, and use stoneware temp-tations cake pans (yep my pies are huge)
What i'll do is just have pie as one of my meals per day to fit it into my calories... exercise etc, whatever. Although I am actually a little underweight I have to confess my husband has more trouble with the pie self-control, I guess I should try the smaller pans idea for his sake LOL
grapefruit curd sounds interesting, I'd like to try making that!

http://www.diabeticlivingonline.com/diabetic-recipes/dessert/perfect-diabetes-friendly-pie-recipes
Or just drool looking at the pictures like I do for the most part lol
A while back I recall some gum that was sugar free and had lots of pie flavors, dunno if they still make it.

I went with strawberry rhubarb. You didn't list any chocolate pies like French Silk.

(205,288 posts)My mother made terrific pies, a talent I didn't inherit. Her best were apple and cherry, though she also made mincemeat and pumpkin for Thanksgiving. But she inexplicably never made blueberry, though she occasionally picked one up at the store when we were little kids. I'm guessing it was my idea.

(12,132 posts)I almost converted.
Their butterscotch pie is worth the 2.5 hour drive for me. The rest of their food is great too but man, that butterscotch though.
Ordinarily, I'd make a point to stop in if I was in the area but I've been known to make the drive just for the butterscotch pie.
I might even have to reconsider how much I love pecan - if I can get Yoder's butterscotch I'd probably pick it half the time over pecan.
Kimchijeon
(1,606 posts)I don't think I've had that before, sounds like something I'd like to try ♥
