There are bounds, of course, and people draw those lines in different places. Naturally if you paste a off-color joke on a discussion forum like this, you're going to upset some people. Others may find it hilarious.

I'm one of those people who can laugh in almost any situation (if not in the moment of crises, definitely shortly thereafter). For me, there's nothing more relieving than sitting around with a few like-minded friends or family members and blowing off steam by saying some of the most offensive things and just roaring with laughter -- in a private place, not at a bar or a restaurant where it will be overheard.

And that shouldn't be interpreted as us belittling minorities, or something of that kind. More like the gallows humor that you mention, NightWatcher. Joking about the macabre.
