--Update-- first job interview in.......

So I killed it in the first interview But after a few days of no contact, I started to get worried. I can never tell whether or not I've crossed the line from aggressive to needy. I waited until Thursday, one week after my interview to contact them.

I left a message.

The next day I got a call back asking me to come in for a second interview.

I just got home.......I'M EMPLOYED!

I start a week from tomorrow!

Thank you to everyone who sent the good vibes my way, it was and still is very much appreciated.

you have to establish the ground rules. Go in there, put your feet up on the desk, assign someone to screen your calls, send somebody else out to pick up your lunch, start dropping hints about a raise.

Don't let them take advantage of you, fNord!!!

Congrats!!!

And I try not to "smoke" wile unemployed. Not because I'm afraid of being tested, in my line of work that's never an issue. But I don't want the lack of motivation.

Now, on the other hand, I'm going to have a celebratory bowl!

In the movie "Dave," Kevin Kline runs a job service and he says: "If you've ever seen the look on somebody's face the day they finally get a job, I've had some experience with this, they look like they could fly."

I've always found that to be true, and I've been out of work a few times, myself, for extended periods.

It was a for a basic mailroom job on Wall Street -- his school sent about half a dozen kids there, and were given an aptitude test. Within two days, four of the six heard they got the got the gig, he didn't. But a about a week and a half later, they called: he didn't get the job because he did so well on the mathematical part of the aptitude test, they put in him a training program!

Congrats!

Had a job as a video editor right out of high school and the "higher ups" "changed the roster" so that the position I had been hired for no longer existed.

I found a job a month later, then went to college instead....

I remember once I was in a supermarket and saw something billing itself as "100% recycled toilet paper". I thought no job could be worse than recycling toilet paper.

I've always loved that joke

Smile!! How could they resist you? Why would they want to? They knew it would be their loss to let a great thing like you slip through their fingers. Just be careful, don't trip over them while they are touching the hem of your garments. And never, ever refuse a foot washing.

Congratulations my darling fNord.

Sorry this took a bit for me to reply, but I've been in a state of sublime...and...is danciness a word?

Truth I've been opening old boxes trying to find work clothes and my old swagger, both of witch I need to work. Found some, had to run out and find the rest.

I'm good now....but could always use another foot washing

Once I got a job because after filling out the application I returned in a week and asked them if they still had job openings. They said yes, and asked me if I wanted to fill out an application. I said, "No, I've already filled one out for you. I just want to see if the job is still open"

I got the job because they figured I must want it.

And in your case they might think that those who really wanted it would call back after giving such a great interview.

But no matter what the reason, Congratulations!
