Jazz fans--name some underrated musicians...
...here's a few off the top of my head--Pee Wee Russell, Bunny Berigan, Willie Smith--the altoist, not Willie the Lion Smith--Slide Hampton, Lee Konitz, Jaki Byard, James Moody. And Louis Armstrong. It might seem absurd to call Pops "underrated"...but I don't see his face on the currency, his mug up on Mt Rushmore, a 500-foot statue of him in New Orleans. Until these oversights are corrected, I'll consider him underrated.
