I thought Barry's (Grant Gustin) singing was dubbed, but Kara(Melissa Benoist) hit it out of the park. Overall it was very enjoyable.

Both Gustin and Benoist did well on Glee in their time – Gustin was the “bad boy” Sebastian from the all boys prep school and Benoist played the quirky and loveable Marley in seasons 4 or 5. (I missed seasons 4 and 5, but my daughter liked her character)

Also, Jeremy Jordan (Win from Supergirl) has been in several Broadway musicals in leading roles and Jesse L Martin (Joe West on Flash) was in a leading role in the original Broadway production of Rent.

So perhaps this episode was a tribute to their time on Glee because it really didn't follow the thread in this seasons series.

Because my daughter likes musical theater, I binge watched the first 3 seasons a few years ago and was surprised at how good it could be in its best moments. It was also very progressive in its portrayal of LGBTQ rights and characters. However, there were times it was pretty crappy as well, but that can happen in a 22 episode season. And, I think after the surprise success of season 1, some of the success went to the heads of the people behind the show.

The guy that played the Music Meister - Darren Criss - was also on Glee from season 2 through the end as Blaine, the love interest for Kurt.
