My wife is at the hair stylist getting her hair done.

I took extra care in noting the state of her hair before she left.

The last time she went to get her hair done she came home and I told her how nice her hair looked knowing that as a husband you are supposed to say such things. She said, "My hair dresser wasn't in today. She called in sick." Doh!

I don't think mine would notice that much, unless I went from brunette to blond or red.

You'll know from her response whether or not she got her hair cut and if she likes, hates or is unsure about how it looks. Just reassure her that you think she looks great unless she had it dyed blue and had the sides shaved down to stubble or if she's literally crying about it.

I've made the opposite mistake: I asked if they were closed...

I just have trouble with faces at the best of times. Prosopagnosia they call it, face blindness.

I hope you don't mind but I consider a lesson for me. I know now never to ask if the place was closed when I see a friend etc. return from a hair or other beauty appointment.

Skip ahead to 4:00, 10:20 or so, and then 15:20 to share in relevant wisdom of the esteemed Mr. Larry Miller on the couch.

The last two times, we went together. It's been great. I comment when we are finished and have a great day thereafter.

Great post. Cheers!
