4. cats also meow to find/call each other.

we have 2 kitties, they are 6 mos. old now, and they have a particular meow when they are trying to locate each other in the house. In fact, it is so particular, that I can imitate it and they will come to where ever I am .

Otherwise, they meow for specific reasons when they want something from us...door open, food, etc.

Fascinating about the purring frequency.

7. My cat Bowie had a particular meow when she wanted to locate me, too.

Usually happened when she woke up from a nap -- she'd meow a 2-syllable meow that sounded just like "ma-ma?" as she trotted around looking for me. How precious is that?!

the second syllable sounds like a question, it is higher than the first.
I started replying to them when they did that, so they still keep doing it.

they also understand "what is THAT?" and look over/check out whatever I am showing them, esp. when I am carrying them.

12. Used to have indoor-outdoor kitties that did that - youd hear them calling each other in

the middle of the night outside. So obvious what they were saying - where are you? Over here!

10. Those are two pretty kittehs.

My cat, Zooey, runs between my feet as walk down the stairs--not up, mind you--down the stairs. She especially does this at night and when I'm half asleep. I've learned to beware. There is really no other explanation other than attempted homicide.
