Long time reader, first time member.
I am a Proud Minnesota Democrat by the name of Kathleen.
I became a Democrat for life at the age of 16 in 1968, the day I heard Bobby Kennedy give a speech in San Jose, California the day before he was taken from us. I have never looked back. I remain a strong supporter of the Party and its principles.
Since the election of George W. Bush, along with my husband, we have been active here in Minnesota with State and Federal politics. We are friends with many of the people who serve in the State Legislature in Saint Paul and in Washington, DC. Over the years, I have had the pleasure to meet Bernie Sanders, Barney Frank, work with the late Paul Wellstone, meet both Barack and Michelle Obama, Elizabeth Warren, Jim Clyburn, Walter Mondale, and many others.
As I get older, I have become more active in politics. I believe strongly in presenting facts when stating an opinion on an important issue. The truth hurts, but it will prevail in the end.
My curent profession is that of a Costume Designer, though I hold Degree in Education with an Art Major, History Minor. I use my education to design period clothing for clients all over the United States in designing Period clothing be they Historical re-enactors, Fantasy enthusiasts, Cosplay fans, etc. The perfect job that I run out of my home. This gives me the pleasure to serve my clients, visit them at their invitation, travel the world, spend time with family and friends. Though Politics remain a strong passion of mine.

I joined in 2001, only a few months after the site was created. It helped me keep my sanity throughout the GWB mess. I'm counting on my friends here to help me do the same through our current troubles.

I remember the great Minnesota Senator Hubert Humphrey to whom our nation is indebted for his legislative initiatives in many areas, including civil rights and bans on nuclear weapons testing.
We look forward to your posts. Because you are a long-time reader, you will not be surprised with the give-and-take which follows when you post on certain hot-button topics. As an aside, I will mention that you will probably appreciate your chances to serve on DU juries which are assembled to consider the merits of alerts raised with regard to certain posts.

Kathleen! What an interesting occupation you have. I love to design and recreate costumes too, but on a much smaller scale, Barbie-sized.
