"White genocide in space". Snowflakes angry at "Star Trek: Discovery" for promoting diversity.

http://www.rawstory.com/2017/05/white-genocide-in-space-racist-fans-seethe-at-diversity-in-new-star-trek-series/

The new series Star Trek Discovery stars Asian actress Michelle Yeoh as the ship’s captain and black actress Sonequa Martin-Green as her first officer — and this has caused some Trekkies to fret about the lack of white men in charge.

...

As both Heat Street and Daily Kos point out, the series’ YouTube page has been bombarded by comments labeling the show a “SJW” plot aimed at shoving “political correctness,” “forced diversity,” and even “cultural Marxism” down viewers’ throats.

Additionally, some angry Twitter users have even proclaimed that the show’s diverse cast is evidence of a “white genocide” conspiracy aimed at eliminating the white race from the face of the Earth.

-----------

What would they think about one of the aliens from "The Left Hand of Darkness"?
They are gender-fluid: Sometimes male, sometimes female, just as they desire.

Or what about a Star Trek-charatcer from a space-colony similar to the one from "The Moon is a harsh Mistress"?
Where a marriage does not consist of one man and one woman but a whole group of people of all ages? It's called a line-marriage and that woman is not "your" wife.

is been played out. Which web sites are their nervous breakdown, I would love nothing more than to go visit the dweebs and remind them Star Trek was ALL about accepting those that are different. If they have forgotten that tidbit, they aren't trekkies, they are assholes.

Looks like the 35 years old men that have never progressed from the mommy's basement have listened to their inbred jed family and hate everything not white.

What a bunch of crybabies. WTF is wrong with these people? It's science FICTION, for pete's sake. It can be whatever the writers decide it should be. I guess the lessons of the Original Series fly right past their heads (by that mean the stories, the casting was not as diverse as it could be, but more diverse than every other show at the time). Roddenberry was somewhat of a progressive, too. I guess they miss that factoid as well.

In any case, why don't they write and produce their own shows? See how far they get with that.

that involved gay characters (Hidden Frontier Productions) and Star Trek: New Voyages.

However, with the new directives limiting the length of future productions and crowd-funding it will be almost impossible for fan productions to rival Paramount. Besides, who really wants to watch a bunch of 40-something balding, obese wannabes with no acting experience pretend as though they just graduated from the academy.

No acting wannabes there! It's about as faithful a recreation of TOS as possible, and is probably the best fan film series out there.

Many of the important characters were NOT white and not male. I was very impressed that so many black actors were given a chance to shine.

While the series was progressive in many ways (especially for its time), it was also often blatantly misogynistic. I could count female characters who existed for any reason other than to please men on one hand.

Hi,

It seems to me that the Mirror Universe has won in Star Trek & has spread to our universe. Now evil & greed is the new order of the day. I think things in our universe will get worse before it gets better, if it gets better at all.
