Found out about this on Next-door!
Apparently, a body of a deceased woman was found on a street a few blocks away.
I tried to find any information via Google, but nothing in the press at all.
A few neighbors who had been interviewed by police say the PD aren't giving any details except that it is a suspected homicide (whether by hit-and-run or other means is not being released by them).
I am getting really scared and frustrated by our PD. They never tell us anything we need to know.
Is there a killer in the neighborhood? Are we just rife with crazy people?
What is going on!?!?!

I have an update on this story, and it's *somewhat* reassuring. Turns out the deceased was a man, not a woman.
And, it was a suicide. The guy walked out of his house (he had just been notified he was being evicted) and shot himself on the street.
So, not murder. Due to it being a suicide, that's why it never showed up in police briefings, I was told they try to keep suicides quiet for the sake of the family involved.
So, very sad, but not murder. Still, another violent death to add to the tally of suicides and murders that seem to be epidemic in our little neighborhood.

(27,115 posts)Without any information about this poor, unfortunate woman, it's just so hard to speculate.
But, with Allison's murder unsolved, and the PD admitting they thought it was a neighbor....one can't help but wonder...

Allison had a home security system, but not a dog.
(Something my husband points out whenever those door-to-door salesmen come by).

(16,377 posts)My dog was born deaf but will bark if she sees or smells anything unusual. Then she will lick the person to death, take them to the jewelry, and put on a pot of coffee.

I'm not quite so sure. However, everyone we've ever invited into the house has been our friend, and has never turned on us. So, it's one of those unanswered questions.
I'm counting on the threatening noise to put evildoers off to begin with...

(11,686 posts)alarm system than the one you pay thousands of dollars for. They detect things before it gets close enough to set off an alarm and if you have visual monitors are you going to keep one in front of you every minute that you are home? Dogs are also do better at detecting drugs and bombs than any fancy machine that is out there to do it.

And her poor family, still with no answers.

(27,115 posts)But, it would be a wrench to sell.
We put a LOT of sweat equity into this house, making it just how we like it.
And we LOVE the neighborhood (in spite of these horrific occurrences). We're close to so many family owned businesses who know us and who we've been patronizing for two decades now.
And, there's no way we could afford to buy again anywhere near here, now that property values have gone berserk.

(27,115 posts)I often bike around the neighborhood alone after dark.
(It's too darn hot to exercise during the day, here).
I might rethink that.
WhiteTara
(29,706 posts)but it may be better to sit in front of the ac than get exercise right now! Stay Safe! Keep those doors locked ALL THE TIME!

(27,115 posts)I'll reach out on Next-door.
I know that there are others who are concerned.
The worst part is, we're all giving each other the side-eye, since the PD said Allison was probably murdered by a neighbor.
