The funny thing about truth is...

...that whenever it is spoken people tend to get angry. Hell, people have been killed over truth. Why do you think that is? BTW, I'm not saying I'm immune to getting uptight when presented with truth that seems to contradict what I think I know. I'd like to think that I usually handle it well, though.

Cognitive dissonance is a barrier.

Ego

This is the I Me My Mine millenium, perhaps the first generations to not have a sense of community/tribe/clan/village.

We are devolving and will probably reach dire enough circumstances where community becomes important to survive. Sadly, like we see in places like El Salvador and Guatamala, new communities we call GANGS are free to rule while the ruling class is behind well guarded walls in compounds sipping cocktails with heliciptors ready to whisk them away.

Unless (fill in the blank)

I've been reading a lot of Eastern philosophy lately, and I'm familiar with the idea that humanity's greatest problem is the ego, the false sense of self, and the resultant games we play due to this fundamental delusion. I'm typing on a phone now. I'll come back to this when I have some time with my PC.
