So here's my idea. Many shows are about the interactions between men and women. There's a pile of shows about marriage, weddings and dating. I'm sure men would like some equal time... (well, maybe not) but possibly some hints about what all to expect, how to prepare and where all you may need to go for wedding preparation along with how to really make the special day your own.
To this end I suggest a new reality show called: "Say meh, to the tux."
Included will be ways to avoid paying for the live swans and doves for home venue celebrations. Many of us would like advice on strategic and decorative ideas about integrating the beer keg harmoniously with the various buffet and table arrangements. Also hints on finding a big screen to rent so the special moments can be seen by everyone and then switched to cover the world series, all-star game, finals, Stanley Cup, wrestlemania... (muted closed caption only) for when folks are tired of dancing should be included.
I still need to solve how an Olympic sized dart board can be discretely added but pending a few details, I may have a winner of show here. Any thoughts?

It can feature brides and grooms struggling with all the stress of setting up big formal weddings only to come to their senses and realize that the thousands of dollars they save could be used to pay off student debt, put a down payment on a house, or jump start a college fund for their children.
Then the happy couple can dash down to the local courthouse to pledge their vows, with follow ups a year or two later that show them happy and financially secure since they didn't blow a fortune on one event in a lifetime.
(I refused to even consider a formal wedding. Soon to be Mr. csziggy and I got our license and on my birthday decided to make it official. We drove over to our friend's house and woke him up. The pizza cook and notary public signed and notarized the license, we found two witnesses, and that was that. The only part that irritated me was that they called friends who threw a party at our house that night. Then my Mom insisted on a reception, so I gave in on that a few weeks later. Who cares - the thing stuck. We will celebrate our 40th anniversary next week. In all that time I only threw him out once so it's all good.)

(18,479 posts)That's impressive. I've never actually been thrown out but the wife was at that point 3 times.
Sounds like a great idea but what it is that will be filmed might need some development.
I will articulate my 2 favorite wedding/marriage movie quotes:
My Cousin Vinny-
Lisa: I want a wedding in church with bridesmaids and flowers.
Vinny Gambini: Whoa. How many times did you say that spontaneous is romantic?
Lisa: Hey, a burp is spontaneous. A burp is not romantic.
The Getaway-
Cowboy: Ya know, if I's you kids what I'd do? I'd quit this runnin' around the country. Ya know, git a little bit a money together 'n, hell, buy a place 'n settle down 'n raise a family. I've been married for 35 years, same old gal; man she's a tough ol' hide. God dang, everything I am, I owe ta her.
(This one just begs for the Slim Pickens accent.)

(2,560 posts)Seemed OK at the time, but in retrospect, we'd rather have spent the money elsewhere. Had a great honeymoon - Italy and Greece! Not bad, eh. We've had our ups and downs, but we're still together after 35 years, 6 months and 3 days. (I'm not actually anal retentive, it just amused me to do that simple calculation ). So, we can identify with the second quote, but my accent is nothing like Slim's.

I think it would be better to aim at family friendly audience. Great idea though but the premium cable networks are often a hard sell.

Then they have to have a paternity test to see which guy is the "winner".
SICK, but I could see it happening, given the deplorable state of "reality" TV.
